You see them everywhere, on sidewalks, bike paths, and on trails in parks and open space. The popularity of E-bikes has exploded, just like it has for Pickleball ( but that would be another post). Everyone seems to love these bikes, and especially older adults.
Grandparents can ride along with their grand kids who are on their own bikes, and keep up with them because of the battery provided on the bike, to take the place of using your legs to power the bike and when you do "pump" using your legs, that charges the battery.
For folks who haven't been able to enjoy going outdoors because of physical limitations or strength, can now get outside and have some fun. Hills are no longer a problem, because with the power of the E-bike you can get to the top and enjoy the view.
But taking a class on how to ride them and be safe is important to do, even for those who are experienced bike riders. Because they can get up to 20 mph and accidents can happen. It is important to wear a helmet and speak with your insurance agent about insurance coverage, because they are considered to be a vehicle and not just a bicycle.
If you buy one, have fun, be safe, and enjoy yourself and freedom.
